HUFELAND CLINIC
The town of Bad Mergentheim is full of clinics. There is a huge one across the street from Hufeland Klinik, and others down the road. Hufeland has two buildings, one down near the road, which has a very nice (and rather large) chapel inside. This building holds the activities such as art therapy and group meetings. The second building is higher up on the steep hill with a heroic driveway and stairs leading up to it. To make access easier, they built a glass atrium on the front of the building which extends down to street level. Inside, the stairs wind their way up to the upper level. There is an elevator, as well. In the photos of the building, the glass front looks rather incongruous, but it is actually quite ingenious - a clever solution by an imaginative architect. |

The top photo was taken from a landing part way up the stairs, looking back towards the entrance. Above is the lower building. In the center is the glass atrium entrance.
The upper building holds the offices, treatment rooms, and patient's rooms.
Ruth's room is the top room on the far right side of the building, in
the lower section of building (the triple window, just under the railing
for the roof deck above it). For a view from Ruth's window, see Park.
