Megan joined 1heart’s first-ever ayahuasca retreat as an award-winning adventurous spirit directing ads for Apple. But she also brought a skeptical, cynical nature, and if it wasn’t for 1heart’s community and integration process, she might’ve left after a challenging first ceremony.
Her trust in 1heart led to one of the most beautiful experiences of her life, and in less than a year, she found her voice and became a platform for underserved communities, women, and stories.
In our seventh episode, our Chief Manifestation Officer, Barry Stamos, interviews Megan Sullivan from Journeys 1 and 3. Megan is an award-winning Creative Director and Filmmaker specializing in social impact storytelling. From traveling to the 7 New Wonders of the World in 13 days to climbing the three passes of Everest, Megan seeks out adventure and experiences to further develop an ever-evolving outlook on creativity. This knowledge inherently blends into her professional work in commercial advertising as a Director and Creative Director for global brands, including Apple, Google, lululemon, and Samsung.
In 2018 (after 1heart), Megan consciously changed her commercial directing career, creating ads for Apple to refocus and align with her true passion: social impact storytelling, which supports sharing inspirational stories that have the power to shift the consciousness and narrative on a global scale.
A year later, in 2019, she wrote and directed the award-winning documentary series, Courage To Question, produced in partnership with Google and UN Women. The series followed four Women’s Rights Defenders from around the world tackling human rights violations. And has been used to inform, educate and compel progressive UN policy reform.
Megan is an alumni of Journeys 1 & 3. So, she is officially the first OG we’ve had on the 1heart podcast. And that also means she has had the longest calendar time integrating her experiences with 1heart.

DISCLAIMER: In sharing stories from leaders who have used plant medicine, including ayahuasca, to elevate their lives, we are not recommending it to you or suggesting that it will have the same results. Each individual will react differently to the medicine, which can be largely shaped by the set and setting of your experience as well as your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual state prior to joining. If you’re interested in this or a similar experience, we recommend you do your own research and speak to others who have done it so you can best determine if it is a good fit for you at this time. Should you decide to do so, we strongly suggest doing so with great reverence and respect for the medicine and the powerful effects it can create in your life. We also recommend anyone working with this medicine spend time preparing themselves before their ceremony(s) and have resources lined up to support them in their integration post-ceremony(s).
Also, it is important to note that the plants and compounds mentioned in this post are still illegal in many countries, and even possession can carry severe criminal penalties. None of this post constitutes medical advice or should be construed as a recommendation to use psychedelics. There are serious legal, psychological, and physical risks. Psychedelics are not for everyone—they can exacerbate certain emotional problems, and there have been, in very rare cases, fatalities.
Our mission is to elevate the life, work, and community of heart-led leaders who together elevate global consciousness and solve planetary problems.
